Reviews can help prospective customers evaluate a local business and can contribute to its public search presence. No workflow can guarantee rankings, review volume, rating, or conversion, but it can make the request process consistent and inspectable.

The central rule is simple: do not decide who receives a public review opportunity based on predicted sentiment, an internal satisfaction score, or whether the customer is expected to leave a positive rating.

What a policy-safe review workflow looks like

  • Start from an agreed completion state. A completed job or invoice status is the trigger only when that source is reliable.
  • Apply one operational eligibility rule. Duplicate, cancelled, test, or legally restricted records may be excluded consistently; satisfaction may not be the filter.
  • Offer the same public path. Every eligible customer receives the same opportunity to reach the selected public review profile.
  • Use bounded reminders. Send only the approved number when consent and provider rules permit, then stop.
  • Route direct replies to a person. Service-recovery messages can create a human task without removing or hiding the public review option.
Consistency is the automation goal. The customer's choice to review and what they write remain outside the system's control.

What not to automate

Do not review-gate, offer a benefit for a positive rating, fabricate review text, submit on a customer's behalf, or suppress the public option for an unhappy respondent. Platform policies and applicable consent rules still govern the final configuration.

What to measure

Track eligible records, sends, deliveries, clicks, direct replies, opt-outs, failures, and public reviews only when the platform makes attribution reliable. Report the observation period and avoid presenting correlation as guaranteed causation.
